Alameda Country Fair 2019
Are you ready for the year’s biggest fair? From the luxury apartments in San Francisco, the Alameda County Fair is just a short trip away. Here’s your guide to this year’s festivities.
Times, Dates, and Location
You can catch this year’s Alameda County Fair from June 14th to July 7th at the local fairgrounds in Pleasanton. Visitors can arrive at Gate 8 or 12, which are located on the corner of Bernal and Valley Avenue.
The fair is open Wednesday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., closing early at 8 p.m. on July 4th. There is no entry to the parking lot after 3 p.m. and no admission after 4 p.m. on the 4th as well.
Tickets and Parking
As you enter Gates 8 and 12, you’ll be directed to the general parking area off Valley Avenue. The cost is $10 per vehicle, but visitors can also pay for VIP parking on Pleasanton Avenue. VIP parking costs $20. All parking fees must be paid in cash.
The cost of your ticket depends on which activities you want to take part in. Gate admission costs $12 for adults and $8 for both children under the age of 12 and seniors when purchased online in advance. Otherwise, they cost $15 at the gate.
If you’re feeling generous, you can participate in the “Buy One, Give One” program hosted by the Ticket to a Dream Foundation. For every $15 ticket purchased, the organization will give a foster child one free day at the fair. Other ticket options break down as follows:

There are also a number of concerts taking place on each day of the festival. Vince Neil of Motley Crue, Trace Adkins, Gin Blossoms and various other artists are playing to the masses. Several tribute bands will also play the fair, including KISS Revisited and Earth to Mars. Prices vary depending on the artists and the seats you choose.
As always, there’s an abundance of food options sure to satisfy everyone’s taste buds. Gluten-free, dairy-free, and vegan menu items are plentiful as well. You can find vendors scattered across the fairgrounds as you enjoy the day. There are plenty of alcoholic and kid-friendly beverages, too.
Live Horse Racing
Starting on June 14th, the Stella Artois Grandstand will host live horse racing events that spectators can bet on. Races happen at 1:45 p.m. from the 14th to July 7th. Hosted by 95.7, The Game Fan Cave, spectators will have plenty of other betting opportunities as well as contests and other fun-filled events to participate in.
Action Sports Arena
If your taste for fun is a little more extreme, then head over to the Action Sports Arena for various shows throughout the 18 days of the fair. Rodeo, monster trucks, demolition derbies and motocross are all part of the lineup this year. There’s also a K-9 Flying Dog Show and the Fiesta Del Charro this year. Shows start at 7 p.m.
It wouldn’t be a fair without everyone’s favorite carnival rides. Enjoy the merry-go-round, the Century Wheel, Tilt-a-Whirl and more. Ride this year include:

Following all concert performances, visitors can watch a spectacle of fireworks take place every night at 9:30. You can also enjoy a fireworks spectacular on June 28th starting at 9:45 p.m. Tickets are already on sale for seats at the Grandstand.
There’s a lot going on this year outside of the traditional fair activities. Visitors can take part in contests ranging from poem reading to soap carving, shop at various vendors feature the area’s best artisans, and stop by various acts or events like the kid’s tractor pull and Alaskan racing pigs.
Families can stop by the Great American petting Zoo to hold and feed various types of farm animals. Stop by the Powerstation for a free demonstration on types of electricity and alternative energy, then keep an eye out for the world-renowned Street Drum Corps performing by the carnival rides. Other acts include Tadpole the Clown, Roberto the Magnificent, and the Traveling Game Show.
